Accreditations, Standards & Compliance
Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd has supplied UK industry continuously since 1770, with a documented manufacturing record that simplifies compliance due diligence for procurement teams in regulated sectors.
For buyers in healthcare, nuclear, conservation and construction, supplier credibility matters as much as product specification. This page sets out the standards we manufacture to, the documentation we provide, and the compliance considerations relevant to each sector we serve.
With our knowledge and experience, it is our goal to attend to our clients needs, going above and beyond their expectations.
Heritage & Business Continuity
Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd has manufactured lead products in Britain since 1770 — over 250 years of continuous operation through periods of industrial change, regulatory development and supply chain evolution.
Few UK manufacturers can offer a comparable record of sustained capability. For procurement teams assessing supplier reliability, this matters: a supplier that’s been manufacturing the same core products for centuries has demonstrated material expertise, customer service consistency and business stability that newer entrants cannot match.
Many of our customer relationships extend back decades — in some cases multiple generations — reflecting the long-term confidence trade customers place in our manufacturing consistency.
Sector Compliance Considerations
We work routinely with customers across the following sectors:
Lead sheet and shielding products supplied with documentation suitable for procurement compliance, CQC inspection records and post-installation radiation surveys. We supply NHS Trusts, private diagnostic imaging clinics, dental practice fit-out specialists and veterinary practice contractors across the UK.
Lead shielding bricks, anti-scatter rails, isotope pots and bespoke castings supplied with full material traceability for compliance archives. Used by UK nuclear power station maintenance contractors, decommissioning specialists, research reactor facilities and industrial radiography providers.
Lead sash weights, lead came, traditional solders and lead sheet documented as UK-manufactured for conservation officer approval. Suitable for Grade I, Grade II* and Grade II Listed building restoration, church window restoration and National Trust property maintenance work.
Cathodic protection anodes and marine ballast supplied with composition certification suitable for classification society survey by Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS and other major maritime classification bodies. Used in vessel hull protection, offshore platform corrosion control and subsea pipeline weighting.
Our Capsol lead-free plumbing solders are formulated to meet UK Water Regulations and WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) requirements for drinking water plumbing. Traditional tin-lead solders are clearly identified as suitable for heritage and non-potable applications only — never for new drinking water installations.
Lead products supplied to UK construction contractors, joinery workshops, timber window manufacturers, structural engineering specialists and building merchants with consistent dimensional accuracy and material composition critical for production-line use.
Material Traceability
- Source material records — refined lead and alloy components sourced from established UK and European suppliers with documented chain of custody
- Batch numbering — every production run is uniquely identified for traceability through to delivery
- Certificates of analysis — stating composition and conformity to specification, supplied with each order on request
- Production records archived — for retrospective traceability of any historic supply
- Material composition certificates — provided with sector-specific documentation requirements 0l>
This level of documentation is particularly important for healthcare procurement (NHS, CQC inspection records), nuclear sector supply (compliance archives), and Listed building conservation (case file requirements).
Compliance Documentation
on Request
Standard documentation is supplied with every order. For customers requiring additional sector-specific paperwork, the following are available on request:
- Material certificates of analysis stating exact alloy composition
- Conformity statements against named British or European Standards
- Batch traceability records linking finished products to source materials
- Origin certificates confirming UK manufacture
- Sector-specific paperwork for NHS procurement, conservation case files, nuclear compliance archives, marine classification surveys, or other regulated supply requirements
Please specify your documentation requirements when requesting a quote so we can ensure the appropriate paperwork is included with your order.
UK Manufacturing & Supply Chain Integrity
- Short supply chain — material produced in the UK, dispatched from our Rotherham facility
- Verifiable origin — no offshore manufacturing or unclear material sourcing
- Direct UK technical support — speak directly to our team if questions arise during inspection, installation or post-supply audit
- Established UK trading history — over 250 years of continuous manufacturing record
- Companies House registered — fully UK-registered limited company with public filing record
- Single-site manufacturing — produced at one Rotherham facility, not assembled from imported components
For NHS procurement, nuclear sector supply, and any project subject to detailed supply chain audit, this single-source UK manufacturing model significantly reduces compliance complexity.
Manufacturing Standards
BS EN 12588 — Lead Sheet
All our lead sheet — including products supplied for radiation shielding, roofing, flashing and conservation applications — is manufactured to BS EN 12588, the British and European Standard for lead sheet. This includes all code 3 to code 8 thicknesses supplied for medical, dental, veterinary and industrial radiography shielding applications.
Documented Alloy Compositions
Alloy ratios for solders, anodes and bespoke castings are formulated and tested against industry-standard compositions. Certificates of analysis are available with every batch, stating exact composition and conformity to the specification ordered.
Conservation-Appropriate Manufacturing
Our lead sash weights, lead came and traditional tin-lead plumbing solders are manufactured to specifications suitable for Listed building and heritage restoration work. Documentation is supplied for conservation officer review where required by Historic England, Historic Environment Scotland, Cadw or local conservation departments.

Compliance Requirements
Every project is different. If your procurement process has specific compliance requirements not covered above — sector-specific documentation, particular British Standards, custom audit trail requirements — our team can discuss what's possible.
