Frequently Asked Questions
What thicknesses of lead sheet do you supply?
We manufacture lead sheet in a range of thicknesses to suit specific applications — from thin flexible sheet for complex flashings to heavier gauges for structural roofing applications. Specifications available to BS 1178 and BS 6915. Contact us with your application for thickness recommendations.
Is lead sheet suitable for heritage roofing?
Yes. Lead sheet is the traditional and preferred material for heritage roofing and flashings on listed buildings. Our lead sheet and lead-lined board are manufactured to BS 6915 and specified by conservation architects for heritage restoration projects. Lead's durability and malleability make it ideal for custom architectural details.
How many lead came profiles do you produce?
Our tooling capability covers over 3,500 different lead came profiles, including standard H, Y, U and C profiles in both imperial dimensions for traditional work and metric sizes for our European range. Bespoke lead came profiles can also be produced from drawings or sample sections.
What are lead came applications?
Lead came is used in stained glass and leaded light design for both traditional and contemporary work. It provides structural support in glass assemblies and is available in a wide range of profiles — H, Y, U and C — to suit period-accurate restoration or modern design requirements.
Can you manufacture bespoke lead components?
Yes. Our in-house tooling, pattern making, casting and machining capabilities allow us to produce bespoke lead sheet, custom lead came profiles, specialist lead tape and wire dimensions, and one-off bespoke components for conservation, heritage and architectural restoration projects.
Do you supply lead-lined board?
Yes. Lead-lined board combines lead's protective properties with structural support. It's ideal for heritage interiors, acoustic performance in high-specification builds, radiation shielding in medical and laboratory facilities, and specialist conservation work.
What solders do you supply for stained glass?
We manufacture solders suitable for stained glass and copper foil work in three grades — Grade C, Grade K and Grade F — each available in both blowpipe and tinmans solder formats. Available alongside our lead came range.
