Our lead bricks are cast at our Rotherham facility from pure lead and supplied in standard, interlocking and chevron profiles to suit shielded cell construction, modular shielding builds and ALARP-driven shielding upgrades.
Lead Castings are widely used across nuclear shielding applications where a one-piece shielded component is required in place of stacked or assembled lead bricks. We manufacture bespoke lead castings to drawing or specification, producing shielded components for hot cell installations, glove box shielded windows and surrounds, transport flask internals, waste container shielding and decommissioning project equipment.
Our casting capability allows us to produce shielded components ranging from small machined castings through to multi-tonne lead pours, with internal cavities, recesses and through-features incorporated at the casting stage to reduce machining time and material wastage on safety-critical work.

What's the typical lead time on bespoke nuclear shielding work?
Standard lead bricks are typically supplied from stock or within one to two weeks. Bespoke lead castings, isotope containers and lead-filled assemblies typically take three to four weeks depending on complexity, drawings and material specification. We quote lead time at the point of quotation, not after order.
Do you supply lead alloys for nuclear shielding?
Yes. While pure lead is the standard for shielding, we manufacture in antimonial lead, lead-tin and lead-calcium alloys where mechanical strength, casting properties or creep resistance is required. Alloy selection depends on the component, operating environment and any structural loading requirements.
