Defence Secretary John Healey MP Visits Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd
· Rotherham, South Yorkshire
The Rt Hon John Healey MP, Secretary of State for Defence and local MP for Rawmarsh and Conisbrough, visited our Barbot Hall Industrial Estate facility this week for a tour of our manufacturing operations and a discussion on sector-specific issues affecting UK lead production.
The visit gave the Defence Secretary the opportunity to see first-hand how Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd manufactures lead and lead alloy products for the UK’s most demanding industrial sectors — including nuclear shielding, medical radiation protection, heritage construction and precision engineering applications.
Speaking after the visit, the Defence Secretary said:
“I would like to thank the team at Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd for welcoming me on a visit to their site at Barbot Hall Industrial Estate and for an informative discussion on a sector-specific issue.
The visit provided valuable insight into their operations and the specialist lead products they manufacture for a range of industries. These include construction, engineering, medical, nuclear and heritage sectors.”
The discussion covered the role UK-based lead manufacturing plays in supporting critical national infrastructure and regulated sectors — including the supply of BS3909 lead bricks, bespoke lead castings and isotope containers for nuclear, medical and defence applications.
